Reliability Engineer, GaN Technology, Ottawa, Canada

Job Description

Our client is a global leader in power semiconductors technologies. Due to their rapid growth, they are seeking to hire a Reliability Engineer with GaN technology experience or academic knowledge. The Reliability Engineer will be part of the reliability group, driving qualification/reliability/failure analysis of Company power electronics products. You will interact with design/marketing/operations and develop appropriate reliability qualification plans Company products based on the core technology and the market it serves. You will develop test plans and procedures to calculate the lifetime of our products. You will be the main interface to external test houses and various suppliers we work with.

Specific Duties Include

  • Drive qualification plans, schedules, meetings, conference calls, communications with suppliers, and customers.
  • Root cause analysis of reliability test, initiate failure analysis work as needed, and propose corrective actions.
  • Prepare qualification/failure analysis reports for both internal use and external customers.
  • Function as a technical resource for reliability lab operations.
  • Coordinate all the logistic in preparing samples, allocating test time, reviewing the test data, initiating and coordinating the failure analysis process.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor or Masters in microelectronics, physics, or a related engineering discipline, with 3+ years of experience as Reliability, Product, Package or Process Engineer in a semiconductor company.
  • GaN HEMT Technology development and reliability knowledge.
  • III-V device and failure mechanisms knowledge.
  • Good understanding of the semiconductor technologies and processes (Assembly, Testing, and Packaging).
  • Good understanding of product function and basic electronics
  • Strong data analysis skill, multi-tasking, and attention to details required.
  • Knowledge of programming using LabVIEW, VB, or Python is preferred.
  • Innovative and Creative with troubleshooting techniques.
  • Enjoy hands-on work and working in a lab environment.
  • Good customer and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to work well in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
